That Uncomfortable Place in the Darkness

As long as we are alive on this earth, there will be trials and tribulations. They don’t feel great when we’re going through them, and discouragement often follows. It’s easy to wonder if God hears your prayers or if things will ever change. But even in those moments of doubt, know this—God is still with you.  Though the world may seem darker than ever, you should not be discouraged. This is the time to remain faithful, to stay in the Word, and to guard your heart against confusion and deception. God knew these times would come, and He has given you everything you need to endure. His promises remain true, no matter how uncertain life feels.

Isaiah 43:2 (KJV) reminds us:

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."

Likewise, in Jeremiah 29:11-13 (KJV), God reassures us:

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

And in Isaiah 41:10 (KJV), God gives us this promise:

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

God doesn’t promise a life without trials, but He does promise to be with us through them. The enemy uses discouragement to weaken our faith, but we must stand firm, knowing that God holds us in His righteous right hand.

In the darkness, He is our light. In uncertainty, He is our guide. Even in that uncomfortable place, trust in the One who remains when all else fades. He is faithful, and He will carry you through.

Prayer:

Lord, when I allow the things that are going on around me to cause me to take my focus off you, extend me Grace and send someone alongside me to remind me. Forgive me when I put my issues and myself ahead of the commission you have assigned me. You are sovereign, and your goodness and mercy endure forever, and I will continue to give you the reverence you are due. In Jesus name, Amen.
